Smoky Mountain Beekeepers Association was established in 2005 between Swain County,Jackson County, and Cherokee Indian Reservation. This was in effort to provide education and a instruction for Honeybee health and conservation. A special thanks to all those involved in the beginning and those who continue the cause.
Since 2005 the SMBA has continued to provide information to the community and assist beekeepers with the newest information available on Honey Bees and how to keep them.
SMBA meets every 2nd Thursday at SSC Almond Center at 60 Almond School Rd, 5 miles west of Bryson City.
SMBA has a Beginners Bee School in March every year to assist new beekeepers with starting the new experience. Also in January there is a preparation class were instruction is given on hive construction, when and how to order bees, and how to be ready when the bees arrive. Please check the calendar for all dates associated with classes and regular meetings.
